Clare Thomas
Hometown: Palo Alto, CA
Clare is a curator/lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a specialty in Antiquity and Ancient Cults. Her interest in ancient civilizations began after discovering Wonder Woman comics and D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths as a child and her Blackfoot heritage. Her curiosity was piqued when she saw how little information was available about what happened to ancient traditions after Christianity usurped the traditional religion. One group was the Disciples of the Spear, a Roman cult of Mars worshippers who opposed Constantine’s Christianizing of the Empire.
In addition to her love of history, Clare has a passion for music and is an outstanding guitar player who performs on open mic nights and in bars. One performing at Dorian’s she met Jesse.
Like Jesse, she is very passionate and charismatic with a quick wit. Schools and visitors love to have her as a tour guide or lecturer.
Clare is ready to start the next phase of her life; to settle down and start a family. She cares about Jesse but knows he’s not ready for what she wants, especially now that he’s on the CWC’s main roster. Add to the mix her old boyfriend Phil moved to the City, who’s also ready to settle down, Clare decides to break up with Jesse. He doesn’t take it well.
As Clare and Phil’s relationship grows, so does Jesse’s popularity via the God of War persona. Clare is affected because Jesse’s popularity leads to increased interest in her specialty, the Greek/Roman pantheon. The Museum notices and asks the CWC to partner with them for an event the night before their WrestleRama supercard, putting Clare and Phil on a collision course with Jesse. She knows what’s going to happen.

Jesse Sampson:
Hometown: Baldwin, NY
HT. 6’4
WT. 225 lbs.
Jesse is a charismatic wrestler, who engages fans via his body language and interviews. Jesse is a passionate person who puts 110% into everything he does, whether it’s his profession or relationships with friends and loved ones.
Before going pro, Jesse was a decorated amateur wrestler. He was broken into the business by the legendary Crusher Christian, who lived by Johnny Valentine’s philosophy, “I can’t make you believe professional wrestling is real but I can sure as hell make you believe I am.” Crusher imparted this by beating and stretching Jesse to his breaking point. When Crusher thought he was ready, he showed Jesse how to “pull his punches” so he wouldn’t hurt his opponent. Crusher’s training gave Jesse’s matches a realism unmatched by most in the business. Jesse’s passion translated into his interviews. He speaks from the heart, forming a connection with the audience most other wrestlers do not have.
Crusher teamed Jesse with Eddie Matrix in a tag team called the All-American Express (or AAX for short) and sent them onto the independent circuit. It wasn’t long before they met a dominant team called the Latin American Machines (LAM) made up of Jorge Cortez and Logan Guerrero with his sister Rosa. The teams had immediate chemistry and began a feud that sold out every show they booked on. Despite their hatred of each other in the ring, the two teams were very good friends who enjoyed staging “skirmishes” at local bars and restaurants the night before matches to move tickets.
The AAX/LAM feud got a greater spotlight when the Championship Wrestling Council’s (CWC) developmental promotion, Generation Wrestling (GEN-W) signed both teams and spotlighted the feud on their streaming network.
During this time, Jesse met Clare Thomas at Dorians in New York City. With a mutual admiration for each other’s passions and ambitions, the two quickly began a relationship. In Clare, Jesse found a kindred spirit with her passion for music and researching obscure ancient civilizations and cults. (He playfully teased her by saying aliens built these civilizations.)
Tragedy struck when Logan was injured in a car accident and had to retire, ending the AAX/LAM feud. The Express continued with Rosa as their manager until the CWC called Eddie and Rosa up to the main roster. Jesse remained in GEN-W and was in a program for their Championship.
Jesse’s passion makes him short tempered. He has been known to beat up people who hit on or disrespect Clare and those that call him “fake” to his face. The ladder usually wound up stretched until the blood vessels in their eyes burst.
Jesse has been called up to the main roster, meaning he’ll be on the road for most of the year. This causes Clare to break up with him. Clare’s break up sends Jesse into a downward spiral, one that makes him susceptible to supernatural forces.
Enter Mars, who grants Jesse the ability to manipulate emotions. The more popular he gets the more powerful he gets, gaining a rabid, violent, fanbase. And with the reach of television, streaming, the internet, and social media there’s no limit to how powerful he can become.
